Activity 1

On the right is an image of a tree. It looks ordinary, it is surrounded by the everyday clutter of our neighbourhoods. We are now going to see how we can enhance this view by incorporating a wealth of knowledge about the tree. Some of this knowledge may be known to you; some will be new. Please write down your initial associations with the tree on a separate piece of paper or using a text processor on your computer. Later you will return to this page to update the information. Use the links on the left as starting points, or headings, but feel free to add more if you think of them.

Your Virtual Learning Journey starts here. Just like the three princes you will start on this journey with some prior knowledge, or even none. Be assured that at the end of it you will have acquired a little more: it has been truly said 'Give learning to a wise person and they will be yet wiser'. Also be careful, no journey is without peril, misfortune may befall you - although hopefully you will live to benefit from dealing with it. Write down your associations, ideas and observations on paper and store it safely. Throughout your voyages you will always have a link back to this page - as long as your computer is not wrecked: that's when your Real Learning Journey starts!

Learning Objective: After completing this module you should have recorded electronically or otherwise all that you currently associate with the image of the tree - anything else is not important, in this context at least! As you progress you will be able to add more information that you have gleaned. Please recall everything you feel is interesting, even if it is not important. Like lint in your pocket, it may come in useful!

Please note that after you have filled in the text box and saved it, it will be set to 'Read Only' and the 'Save' Button will be disabled for the hour.
